Summer is a high season for the travel and study abroad industries. This month The School of Russian and Asian Studies presents us with an updated Guide to Russia and a week-long educational trip to Russia!

If you are not likely to get far from home this summer, make sure to check out a workshop in Icon painting presented by the Museum of Russian Icons or at least try out the Shashlyk recipes in this month's newsletter!

The M.N. Adamov Fund For The Blind Is Looking For Couriers
The MN Adamov Fund for the Blind is the only organization in North America dedicated to helping blind students in Russia. The Fund is looking for people traveling from Boston to St. Petersburg who can take a used laptop computer which has its memory wiped out, folding white canes, or digital voice recorders.

Free Wi-Fi in Domodedovo
Moscow Domodedovo Airport is glad to announce to all its customers that since May 14 2010 free Wi-Fi Internet access has been available in the airport.

Siemens and Russian Rail Companies Sign Agreement to Update Stock
RZD JSC, Siemens AG, and Aeroexpress LLC will organize a joint venture in Russia for producing next-generation trains with a DESIRO RUS asynchronous propulsion system.

New Service to Bryansk (Siberia) from DME
On June 3 Region Avia launched new direct scheduled flights from Moscow Domodedovo airport to Bryansk (Central Russia) which is a unique destination for Moscow Aviation Hub.

Over the past several months, we’ve seen a number of important initiatives from Russian government, all aimed at diversifying the country’s IT abilities.

Seminar: "Update on Doing Business in Russia"
Alinga held a seminar focusing on several key business and legal issues, including the changes in hiring foreign specialists. Information on the seminar and the presentations can be found on the Alinga website.

Conference on Encouraging Young Researchers in Russia
Young researchers were the focus of a conference held April 22-23, 2010 in Voronezh, Russia as part of CRDF's Basic Research and Higher Education (BRHE) program, which transforms and reinvigorates the training of young scientists by strengthening the basic research capabilities of Russian universities.

SRAS Continues Programs In Kyrgyzstan
The reports currently streaming from this Central Asian state have been confined to the southern portion of the country – specifically to the cities of Jalal-Abad and Osh and their surrounding area.

GenPlan Moscow

In 2007, President Vladimir Putin initiated the creation of the Russian Corporation of Nanotechnologies (Rusnano) to give Russia a leading position in the world market of nanotechnology products.
