The USRCCNE Monthly Newsletter
For those with interests bridging the US and Russia...
From Dan Satinsky, President Emeritus, USRCCNE
Our Chamber focuses primarily on the business and economic aspect of U.S.-Russia relations, but everyone who deals with Russia knows that politics is never far from the surface and significantly influences business relations. As such, we will be looking forward to President ObamaТs visit to Russia from July 6 Ц 8 for signs of improving relations between our two governments. The White House press release regarding this visit listed the usual list of political and security issues, but we hope that it will also lead to renewed engagement in areas of economic cooperation and citizen diplomacy.
It is just a feeling, but it seems to me personally that there are people on both sides waiting for some positive signals to come from the meetings between Presidents Obama and Medvedev as the necessary precondition for renewed bilateral engagement on a whole range of issues including encouraging the free flow of commerce and ideas between resource-rich Russia and economic superpower of America. This can only be in the best interests of both countries.
As always, this newsletter is dependent on you. If you have an announcement or a news item to be included in our newsletter, or if you would like to subscribe to this free publication, please contact us.
