Startup Bazaar Held at Academpark tech park in Academpark, Novosibirsk

On April 13, Academpark held its first annual investment forum to showcase local startup companies for potential investors. Academpark is the leading tech park in Russia and is located in the Academgorodok suburb of Novosibirsk. Through the Startup Bazaar, some 20 companies made presentations to an audience of more than 30 investors and experts. Chamber member company Russia Innovation Collaborative, LLC was an information sponsor of the event and is a partner with Academpark in promoting their resident companies in the U.S.

Companies made 5-minute presentations of their technology and business plans as a competition. Semi-finalists included projects included ITM technology for obtaining oxygen, a system of computer translation of sign language for the deaf, a composite high friction material for working on icy surfaces, a multi-phase fraction scanner for the oil and gas industry, an online system for promotional marketing and others. The first place project was a project for biodegradable plastics from renewable natural raw materials. Second place was shared by a project with a fiber-optic temperature measurement system and a project with a sewage water purification system.

The winning projects and two others were in invited to compete in the all-Russian business plan competition, BIT (Business of Innovative Technologies). The main benefit for all the participating companies came from private meetings with investors and expanded opportunities for further work and cooperation.

Academpark was very happy with the success of this initial event and expects to continue it on an annual basis.
