Silicon Valley Trade Delegation to Russia, October 10 Ц 14, 2010
Daniel Satinsky, Russia Innovation Collaborative, and John Connor, Third Millennium Russia Fund, were included as special guests with the high-powered venture capital delegation to Moscow and Kazan. Organized by Alexandra Johnson and her staff at the Global Technology Symposium, the delegation was headed by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Russian President Medvedev and Governor Schwarzenegger jointly chaired a roundtable discussion on innovation and economic cooperation at the newly opened Skolkovo Business School, followed by an informational meeting with Viktor Vekselberg, President and Co-Chairman of the Skolkovo Foundation.
The following day, the delegates were hosted by RUSNANO Chairman Anatoly Chubays at the RUSNANO headquarters for an in-depth discussion with Mr. Chubays and his staff of RUSNANOТs ambitious and far-reaching plans and projects. This was followed by a discussion and program meeting focused on the Russian venture capital industry at the Moscow-City Federation Tower, hosted by Igor Agamirzian, General Director, Russian Venture Company.
On the third day of the visit, the delegation flew to Kazan where they were greeted by the President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov and his entire cabinet of ministers. This was followed by a tour of the IT park (technopark) in Kazan and discussions with foreign and Russian businesses located there about the advantage of business location in Tatarstan.
The visit was a continuation of dialogue about U.S.-Russian cooperation in innovation that was begun with the meeting between President Obama and President Medvedev in July 2009 and continued with the visit of President Medvedev to Silicon Valley in June 2010.
