Signing the Memorandum of Understanding
From March 27 – 30, a high level Russian delegation participated in an intensive introduction to the innovation ecosystem in the Boston/Cambridge area. The delegation, led by Russian Duma Deputy Ilya Ponomarev, was composed of Duma Deputies from the “A Just Russia” party, officials and business people from Perm and business people from Novosibirsk. The program in Boston was organized by Chamber member Daniel Satinsky, together with Cynthia Bouthot, Chris Kind and David Bell, as the Russia Innovation Collaborative. In this short period, the delegation met with many of the key component institutions of the innovation ecosystem, including MIT, Boston University, the Cambridge Innovation Center, Massachusetts Technology Transfer Center, the Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Development, the Massachusetts Live Sciences Center, venture capitalists and local business people.

At the conclusion of the visit, Irina Travina, President of SibAkademSoft, representing the new technology park, “Academpark” in the Academgorodok suburb of Novosibirsk, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of Academpark with the Russia Innovation Collaborative for cooperation in integrating companies from Novosibirsk into the U.S. and European innovation ecosphere.
