Speaker: Professor Elizabeth Wood
As Russia has come to dominate world news this spring, commentators have thrown around countless references to history and historical analysis. Yet anyone planning to visit Russia or do business with Russian citizens needs to have a larger view on Russian history, understanding the richness and diversity of the country's successes and its tragedies. This lecture will focus particularly on the challenges of nationhood for an ethnically diverse empire and the challenges of rule for a country that stretches across eleven time zones.
