In his keynote address, Guest of Honor First Deputy Minister Andrei Korotkov of Russia’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Head of the Board of Directors of E-Russia described immediate opportunity for new business between Russia and America.
“The recently established E-Russia Directorate is managing a $2.6 billion program with a special emphasis on E-Government, development of public social services to the general population through the Internet and boosting e-commerce and Internet use across Russia,” Korotkov said. “We are aiming to enhance the country’s economy through information technology in both the public and private sectors. We invite early participation from America.”
Selena Semushkina, Deputy Director of the Coordinating Administration for E-Russia, described the tendering process taking place between 2002 and 2010, urging the group to get involved sooner rather than later.
Members of RUSSOFT, Russia’s National Software Association of which Star SPB is a member, presented RUSSOFT as the main point of entry for American companies seeking partnerships, technology and software development services in Russia. RUSSOFT was established in 2001, is based in Moscow, and works closely with Russian Ministries, including Korotkov’s Ministry of Communications and Informatization. The members of New England trade and technology organizations in attendance engaged in a lively question and answer session with Mr. Korotkov, Ms. Semoushkina and the other members of the Russian delegation. Several proposals for practical cooperation were made by both Russian and US participants that will be followed up upon by the USRCCB, Inc. and Russoft.
